Whatever the weather, you know you'll have flawless make-up coverage from dawn to dusk and after dark!

To mark the changing seasons, we enjoy varying our make-up looks accordingly, and it all starts with foundation. The simple technique of changing from a glowy, sunkissed summer complexion to a soft, flawless matte finish for winter can update your entire look, especially in a season where fatigue, blemishes, pores, lines and uneven coloration can quickly show on the face. This is where matte foundation comes in!

What we expect from our foundation in winter

A soft, flawless matte finish for winter can update your entire look

Lightweight and comfortable

Just because we pile on layers of clothes in winter, doesn't mean our skin should feel weighed down in layers too! Coverage should feel light and comfortable, while still long-lasting. The Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation matte foundation by Lancôme has been formulated for ultimate comfort without compromising on coverage. Over 92%* of women agree that Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation leaves skin feeling soft and comfortable, with its light fluid texture gliding onto the skin like a velvety veil.

Even, natural-looking coverage

Without the flattering sunshine and a summer tan, the winter can make our imperfections more noticeable. The Teint Idole Ultra Wear Camouflage Concealer provides subtle, perfect coverage over discoloration (redness, purple shadows, dark spots etc.), blemishes, pores and even fine lines. The result: typically Parisian beauty, natural-looking and flawless. Christmas on the Champs Elysées this year?

Long-lasting

One of the key concerns that women tell us about when it comes to winter coverage is "My matte foundation has to be long-lasting." This is why Lancôme developed Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation, a matte foundation whose flawlessly smooth non-transfer 24-hour wear has given it a global cult following. The Lancôme Creative Director of Make Up International Lisa Eldridge uses Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation as her go-to matte foundation for a 24-hour party look. It provides "really good coverage so you don't have to use a lot, just make sure you blend it really well... it gives you an incredibly flawless base." Lisa Eldridge even used Teint Idole Ultra Wear on the iconic actress Kate Winslet for one of her biggest movie premieres!

Six steps for long-lasting matte foundation

Get the most out of your matte foundation with the right application technique.

Step 1

Apply a pea-sized amount of matte foundation onto the top of your hand.

Step 2

Using your fingertip, dab small dots of foundation onto your forehead, cheeks, each side of the nose, and the chin.

Step 3

With a foundation brush or your (clean) fingers, blend the matte foundation into the skin using sweeping outwards movements. Blend, blend, blend, and don't forget the neck area!

Step 4

For targeted blemish coverage, dab, don't sweep, a small dot of Teint Idole Ultra Wear Camouflage Concealer over the area once the rest of the face is dry. Pat the skin around the blemish to blend without removing the coverage.

Step 5

Ensure an even, natural-looking finish by checking the result under natural light if possible.

Your questions about matte foundation answered

We answer three of the most common questions our Beauty Advisors get asked about matte foundation...

"Can I wear matte foundation with oily skin?"

Women with naturally oily skin types often believe that matte foundation won't work on their skin. However, our Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation contains minerals perlite and silica, which absorb oil and prevent shine. To be sure your complexion keeps a healthy glow all day long, keep Lancôme's Belle de Teint bronzer in your purse for the occasional touch-up.

"What make-up looks best with matte foundation?"

When looking for make-up inspiration, we always head to the red carpet. Lupita Nyong'o and Taylor Hill, for example, are known for their trademark bright lips, often pairing them over a matte complexion. We especially love the new L’Absolu Gloss Cream in Caprice, an intense and silky bright red!

"How do I choose the right shade of matte foundation?"

Your first step is to ask for advice from one of our Lancôme Beauty Advisors, who are professionally trained to diagnose your exact skin color. They'll also recommend you look at the color on your skin in natural light. To celebrate 20 years of being a foundation favorite, the Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation now exists in 40 shades, making it even easier for every woman to find her perfect match!
