The Rose has been at the heart of Lancôme since 1935. It is our symbol and a key active ingredient in our products. And there is no soil as rich as the capital of French perfumery, Grasse, to produce the finest quality of organic roses. With more than 85 years of Rose Expertise, we are proud to preserve and restore this exceptional terroir and committed to cultivating our roses sustainably. Thus preserving our environment for future generations and producing the finest, purest quality of flowers.

The quality of our roses comes from the savoir-faire of our farmers and our field-to-bottle approach to production. Our roses are hand-picked every morning and sent directly to our perfumer only a few miles away to avoid fermentation and preserve each flower's freshness.

Our goal is to use as much of the rose bush as possible - from the roots to the stems, up to the petals. As part of our "zero waste" approach, after picking the flowers in May, we up-cycle the rosewood in December to extract key ingredients for our skincare products.

Here at the Le Domaine de la Rose, polyculture creates a complete biotope, re-creating the diversity of a natural ecosystem on this 4-hectare estate. The traditional architecture made of dry stone walls, allows centuries-old terraces to hold back soil and create terrace farming. It stores the warmth of the sun and provides a natural shelter for an abundant diversity of wildlife.

By re-introducing endemic species from ancient Grasse estates, we are committed to preserving them for future generations. Through our collaboration with LPO ( ligue de protection des oiseaux) we are able to conduct an inventory of the biodiversity of our estate and discovered that is home to more than 250 plant and animal species, including birds, bees, insects and reptiles.

Thanks to its water valleys , Le Domaine de La Rose has an optimal hydrology system that brings continual freshness to plants, and provides the soil with permanent irrigation. By restoring this traditional irrigation system, we can water the land with water from local streams, making water self-sufficiency a reality.

Building on more than 70 years of regenerative agricultural pratices by a pioneering family, Lancôme is committed to continuing to develop polyculture farming on our estate in Grasse. By pursuing organic agriculture and growing a variety of plant species including roses, fruit trees, fragrant flowers, and ancient aromatic plants, which help to maintain the soil and improve its fertility in a regenerative cycle.
