Skincare for bright skin

Millions of women around the world rely on Lancôme’s legacy of pushing boundaries and pursuing new solutions to empower them with flawless skin. Recently, Lancôme has looked to the future and recognised a new ideal: skin clarity. The key to clarity is unlocked by enzyme science. With the launch of the Clarifique brightening skincare range, Lancôme has opened an exciting new chapter for beauty and enzyme skincare.

30 Years of Research

Always looking ahead, Lancôme saw the future of skincare long ago and set out to pioneer this new frontier of skin brightening products. Recognising the inherent link between enzymes and skin quality, Lancôme dedicated 30 years of research to studying enzymes and their skincare potential. This relentless research led to the discovery of new epidermal enzymes, resulting in 13 new patents and 113 international publications. Once again, Lancôme’s scientific excellence has led its success in skincare.

The Power of Enzymes

Enzymes are a story as old as earth itself—but you may be asking yourself, “What do enzymes do?” Enzymes are biological accelerators that speed up biochemical reactions by providing alternative pathways, thereby consuming less energy. They are the perfect example of sustainability due to them being recyclable. At optimal temperature, hydration levels, pH and concentration, their topical potential is amplified.

To put this in simpler terms, the enzymes found in Lancôme’s brightening skincare products help to break down old, lingering dead cells on the surface of our skin. Enzymatic exfoliation can unclog pores and enhance dead skin cell turnover, giving you new, vibrant cells that allow for better penetration of skin care products—resulting in smooth, radiant skin. Enzymes also fight against free radicals and oxidation, thus protecting your skin from everyday environmental damage.

In the skin, epidermal enzymes regulate 4 biological functions involved in skin clarity and skin texture:

  • Multiplication: Enzymes boost skin cell multiplication and therefore help skin renewal.
  • Hydration: Enzymes are involved in moisturising factors, keeping skin healthy and plump.
  • Desquamation: Enzymes boost skin cell elimination, whilst tightening and refining the skin’s surface.

Pigmentation. Enzymes regulate melanin production, giving you brightened skin with an even tone.

Where Do Enzymes Come From?

Lancôme delicately sources its enzymes from a precious vegetal pearl: French Beech Buds. This organic and renewable source is known as the “forever young tree,” and its enzymes are paired with green science by Lancôme to be leveraged as skincare ingredients.

Most of the enzymes found in skincare products are botanically sourced. The most common enzymes found in topical beauty formulas include:

  • Bromelain: Found in pineapple juice and pineapple stems
  • Actinidin: Found in kiwi, mango, pineapple, papaya and banana
  • Papain: Found in papaya
  • Ficin: Found in figs

Additional botanicals that contain enzymes include pumpkin, ginger and honey.

Skin Clarity Unlocked

Lancôme’s latest Clarifique range focuses on achieving skin clarity through its enzyme skincare products, which help to improve skin tone and refine skin’s texture—leaving it feeling smooth, hydrated and radiant.

At the heart of Clarifique, you will find our key ingredient, the French Beech Bud, which harnesses a gentle yet exfoliating action to accelerate skin renewal and clarity. You can learn more about the Clarifique product range below:

Clarifique Dual Essence

Skin brightening facial essence

As one of our pillar Clarifique products, the Clarifique Dual Essence is a skin brightening facial essence that leaves skin more refined, plumper and tighter. What exactly is an essence? Essences have similar benefits to serum, with a concentrated formula and lower molecular weight than most daily creams. They penetrate the skin more deeply than your standard moisturiser.

The refining formula of this facial essence improves your skin's natural mechanism of renewal and ensures a more even skin texture, as well as brightened skin tone. Dual Essence’s pioneering bi-phase formula is a combination of two skin essences (3% Lipidic Enriched Essence and 97% Clear Essence), perfectly blended by shaking the bottle. Our exclusively patented whisk blends both phases and generates thousands of fresh micro-bubbles to ensure a perfect sensation.

How To Apply: Use the essence in the morning and at night after cleansing. Shake the essence before each use, pour a few drops into your hand, then gently press over your face and neck. After using our facial essence for 4 weeks, your skin will be 43% more refined and 24% more homogenous, with pores 13% less visible.

Clarifique Watery Emulsion

Pore refining emulsion

The Clarifique Watery Emulsion is a pore-refining emulsion brightening serum that reduces the appearance of skin discolouration and pigmentation, leaving you with a more even, refreshed and brightened complexion. The emulsion’s aqueous formula contains wild French Beech Bud Extract, Vitamin C derivative and Niacinamide to improve skin radiance and protect against environmental factors.

How To Apply: Use our emulsion in the morning and at night as one of the final steps in your skincare routine. Dispense a pea-sized amount of emulsion to your fingertips. Massage onto your face in a circular motion, beginning with your cheeks and forehead, then moving to the remainder of your face and neck. Finally, apply a daily sunscreen.

Clarifique Cleansing Foam

Pore-refining cleansing foam

Lancôme's Clarifique Cleansing Foam is a pore-refining facial enzyme cleanser that helps to accelerate the skin's natural process of renewal, revealing clearer, brighter and youthful skin. Deep-cleansing Beta Hydroxy Acid and Salicylic Acid work to cleanse away impurities and reduce the appearance of enlarged pores, without drying the skin's surface.

How To Apply: As the first step in your enzyme skincare routine, apply a coin-sized amount of cleansing foam to your hands. Massage gently onto your face, then rinse with lukewarm water.

Clarifique Spot Eraser

Dark spot corrector

If skin discolouration and dark age spots are two challenges you are facing, we recommend trying the Clarifique Spot Eraser. This powerful dark spot corrector uses targeted antioxidants (Vitamin C derivatives and Ellagic Acid) to address the excess melanin that results in dark spots on the skin. The formula uses ingredients that aid in regeneration and brightening skin renewal, whilst also erasing imperfections and targeting enlarged pores and blemishes.

How To Apply: Use in the morning and at night before reaching for your moisturiser. Apply the dark spot treatment on specific areas to reduce spot appearance, number, size and colour intensity. Alternatively, you can apply over your entire face for skin tone homogeneity.

Clarifique Milky Day Cream

Morning skin-brightening cream

For those of you seeking a plumping, rejuvenating, skin-brightening cream, you can add the Clarifique Milky Day Cream to your morning routine. The milky cream formula is infused with plumping and regenerating ingredients, giving you targeted hydration whilst improving the skin’s tone and radiance. Your skin will be naturally renewed, soothed, mattified and significantly brightened.

How To Apply: Use the cream in the morning, or even at night, as the final step in your skincare routine. Add a pea-sized amount of cream to your fingertips. Massage the cream onto your face in a circular motion, beginning with your cheeks and forehead, then moving to the remainder of your face and neck. Always remember to apply your sunscreen as well.
