Recognising the inherent link between enzymes and skin quality, Lancôme dedicated 30 years of research to studying enzymes and their skincare potential. This relentless research led to the discovery of new epidermal enzymes, resulting in 13 new patents and 113 international publications. The Power of Enzymes

Enzymes are a story as old as earth itself—but you may be asking yourself, “What do enzymes do?” Enzymes are biological accelerators that speed up biochemical reactions by providing alternative pathways, thereby consuming less energy. Where Do Enzymes Come From?

Lancôme delicately sources its enzymes from a precious vegetal pearl: French Beech Buds. This organic and renewable source is known as the “forever young tree,” and its enzymes are paired with green science by Lancôme to be leveraged as skincare ingredients.

Most of the enzymes found in skincare products are botanically sourced. The most common enzymes found in topical beauty formulas include:

• Bromelain: Found in pineapple juice and pineapple stems
• Actinidin: Found in kiwi, mango, pineapple, papaya and banana
• Papain: Found in papaya
• Ficin: Found in figs

Additional botanicals that contain enzymes include pumpkin, ginger and honey.

Essences have similar benefits to serum, with a concentrated formula and lower molecular weight than most daily creams. They penetrate the skin more deeply than your standard moisturiser.

The refining formula of this facial essence improves your skin's natural mechanism of renewal and ensures a more even skin texture, as well as brightened skin tone. Dual Essence’s pioneering bi-phase formula is a combination of two skin essences (3% Lipidic Enriched Essence and 97% Clear Essence), perfectly blended by shaking the bottle.
